New 2026 Ford Explorer Active 4x4 in St. Louis, MO

The 2026 Ford Explorer Active instantly rewards drivers with confident, composed handling and a feeling of control that stands out among midsize SUVs. Steering is precise and naturally weighted, making every input feel intentional whether guiding through city streets or cruising highways.

Enthusiasts who appreciate the subtleties of daily driving will find the Explorer Active especially compelling. This SUV is tailored for those who notice the difference between numb and communicative steering, who value a suspension that balances comfort with real feedback, and who enjoy a cabin that isolates from harshness without muting the road’s texture. For buyers in regions like St. Louis, where commutes often transition from city traffic to open highway and unpredictable weather, the 4WD system adds an extra layer of confidence and year-round usability.

The driving experience centers around the 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, delivering smooth and eager power. Throttle response is immediate yet measured, making merges and lane changes feel effortless. The transmission shifts with crisp precision, quickly finding the right gear for acceleration or relaxed cruising. Speed-sensing steering and a four-wheel independent suspension combine to keep body motions in check during quick maneuvers, while brake pedal feel is progressive and inspires confidence in all conditions. This SUV feels composed and ready, making every journey rewarding for drivers who value engagement.

Safety systems in this Explorer are engineered to enhance, not intrude on, the driving experience. Electronic Stability Control and Traction Control intervene seamlessly when grip levels fluctuate, supporting the driver without abruptness or overcorrection. Emergency communication via 911 Assist, a rearview camera, and ABS brakes provide layers of reassurance, especially under sudden stops or evasive moves. Lane-keeping and adaptive lighting, such as auto high-beam headlights, subtly assist without dulling the driver’s sense of control, ensuring that confidence behind the wheel is never compromised by excessive automation.

The Active trim comes equipped with features that blend convenience and driver focus. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto keep navigation and media accessible, while the navigation system ensures effortless route planning. Power driver seat adjustments
