New 2026 Ford Explorer Active 4x4 in St. Louis, MO

The 2026 Ford Explorer Active stands out for delivering an impressive suite of standard features at its price point.

Analytical shoppers who scrutinize feature lists and compare specifications will appreciate how the Explorer Active is configured for maximum utility and family convenience. Standard third-row bench seating, rear air conditioning, and a power driver seat allow it to comfortably handle both daily commutes and weekend adventures. Especially for families in areas with varying weather, like St. Louis, the standard 4WD system means you’re prepared for year-round conditions without needing to upgrade or add costly options. This SUV is tailored for those who want all the essentials included, minimizing the need for post-purchase add-ons.

From a value performance perspective, this SUV’s 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 engine and 10-speed automatic transmission deliver a blend of power and efficiency uncommon at this price level. With 4WD as standard, it’s ready for adverse weather or unpaved roads, all while maintaining an EPA-estimated 20 city and 27 highway MPG-providing fuel savings over larger, thirstier competitors. Maintenance costs are kept in check thanks to a proven powertrain and Ford’s widespread service network, helping owners minimize long-term expenses and maximize return on investment.

Safety value is a clear strength, as the Explorer Active includes key features like ABS brakes, electronic stability control, dual front and side impact airbags, knee airbag, and an exterior parking camera rear-all as standard equipment. Many rival SUVs offer similar systems only as part of expensive packages or higher trims. The inclusion of emergency communication (911 Assist), auto high-beam headlights, and brake assist ensures critical safety tech is built in, reducing the need to pay more for essential peace of mind.

Feature content is robust, with notable inclusions such as navigation, SiriusXM with 360L, automatic temperature control, front dual-zone A/C, speed-sensing steering, remote keyless entry, and steering wheel mounted audio controls. Rear air conditioning and split folding rear seats enhance family practicality, while the Gray cloth interior and Agate Black Metallic exterior provide a clean, modern look. With these features included at the Active trim level, buyers avoid the nickel-and-diming common to segment rivals.
